Dubai : DRM to host creative workshop for budding theatre artistes

Dubai, Mar 11: Daiji Rang Mandir, the cultural wing of Daiji Dubai will organize a workshop for Konkani amateur theater artistes, at Winny’s Restaurant, Karama on Saturday, March 22 at 5 pm and Sunday March 23 at 6 pm.


 
The two-day workshop, named 'Pratibimb', and will be open for amateur Konkani artistes of all ages. It will cover different aspects of acting like nine 'rasas', improvisation on body movement, walk-and-talk, body language, flexibility, fitness, run and chase, action continuity, mime voice – voice culture, Sargam etc.

The creative workshop will be conducted by M H Rizvi of Kolkata, director of Pratibimb Theatre Academy troupe in Dubai, as well as by Dilip Paranjape, by profession a script writer, actor and also one of the noted members of Pratibimb Theatre troupe.

About M H Rizvi

M H Rizvi is the director of an event management company, and has been involved closely with theatre for several years. At the age of 17, he began to act in school plays. He is the founder of the prominent Pratibimb theatre group in Kolkata. He came to the UAE in 1992 and was dismayed by the absence of a local theatre scene for expatriates. He tried forming his own group and in February 1999, he successfully founded Pratibimb, named after the Kolkata theatre group with their permission.
 
M H Rizvi, being a television and theater actor, has also directed several plays in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and Urdu and performed in the UAE under the banner Patibimb Group. Some of his dramas are 'Roshni', 'Rahgeer', 'Rajjokishadi', 'Adhay Adhooray', 'Barrister', 'Baday Bhaisahab' (Hindi), 'Sandhiyachaya' (Hindi and Marath), Boodir Biay  (Bangali) and others. 'Racket' Hindi social drama  was performed last January at Sheik Rashid Auditorium in Dubai. For his selfless service he has been awarded and felicitated numerous times
by the Theatre Academy of India, the West Bengal Urdu Academy, in a theatre festival organized by Fankaar in the year 1999 and so on.

Apart from theater, he also organizes reality shows, musical nites, poets' conferences and live concerts.


About Dilip Paranjape

Dilip Paranjape is a famous script writer and well-known actor in Hindi and Marathi theatre. He has written and translated many dramas from Hindi to Marathi and vice versa.  He also engages in social work and organizes sports activities, social awareness programmes in labour camps.

Along with M H Rizvi, he regularly conducts theater workshops, training in acting skills and personality development courses for many schools and institutes around UAE. They both are currently working on Rahat Fateh Ali and Bappi Lahari's live concerts which will come to Dubai in the near future.
