Mangalore, Mar 10: St Aloysius Evening College celebrated the 48th College Day on March 8 at 6 pm at the College grounds.
Urmila Shishila, KAS, deputy director, backward classes, Government of Karnataka, was the chief guest. Fr Denzil Lobo, rector, St Aloysius College Institutions, was the president for the programme.
Chief Guest Urmila Shishila stressed on the need that students from DK and Udupi districts should enroll for the government administrative services as there are few takers from these districts. She also lauded the evening college students for their hard work during the day and studies in the evening. She also gave tips on the various government schemes for backward classes, minorities and weaker sections of the society.
College administrator Fr Michael John highlighted the need for acquiring degree along with moral values and ethics to deal in a society.
Principal Manohar V Serrao presented the college report. Convener of the college day Dr V B Hans welcomed the gathering.
Vice-principal Ravi Shetty, office bearers of the Students’ Council were present on the occasion.
The formal programme was followed by a unique cultural programme which displayed the multi-faceted talents of the students.
Prizes were distributed on this occasion to the student achievers in different fields.
