Mangalore: Music fans relive songs and hymns of Konkan Kogull on Wilfy Day

Mangalore, Mar 10: Soulful Konkani music reverberated at Don Bosco hall here on Sunday March 10, bringing alive the memories of legendary singer Konkan Kogull Wilfy Rebimbus.
'Mahima Devachim - Amar Wilfychea Utramni' held as part of 'Wilfy Rebimbus Day-2014', saw a group of singers and performers from in and around Mangalore present about 20 songs and hymns composed by the late Wilfy Rebimbus in a unique way.
Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza and Jeppu parish priest Fr Nelson D'Almeida were the chief guests for the 'Wilfy Rebimbus Day-2014' programme.
Prior to the show, Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza in his speech remembered Wilfy Rebimbus and said that he lives in everyone's hearts.
He said, "Konkan Kogull was closer to God with his songs. His compositions reverberated with prayers, love, truth and care. He was a good Christian who always worshipped God in good times and bad. His songs made all of us happy."
Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza presented mementoes to those who supported the programme.
Fr Nelson D'Almeida praised Wilfy and his family for presenting various songs of Wilfy and thanked them for inviting him.
Also, for the first time, LED display was used to introduce each song.
Charlene Rebimbus, Eddie Sequeira and C G S Taccode compered the show.
Several singers and dancers performed Wilfy's songs and entertained the gathering. The audience enjoyed the show thoroughly, paying rapt attention to the songs throughout the evening and appreciating each performance with a round of applause.
Alvin Noronha from Bajpe and group performed Wilfy's song 'Somi Jezu Somsari Aailo', Meena Rebimbus, Suraj and group also rendered their voices. 'Revelations' from Bondel performed 'Char Disanso Somsar', Vishwas Rebimbus and Veena Rebimbus, son and daughter the late Wilfy, Munita Veigas Rao, Jean Mitchelle Braggs, Ivan Sequeira, Babitha Pinto, Sunil Monteiro, Rayan Sequeira, Ashwin D'Costa, Glen, Lavina D Dias, Nishmitha D'Souza, Roveena D'Almeida, Crystal Lobo, Josline, Joyline and many others enthralled the gathering.
Dolla Mangalore, Edith, Ashith Pereira, Fr Denis DSa, Fr Francis Rodrigues, editor, Raknno Weekly, Melwin Peris and many others were present.
