Mangalore, Mar 10: True to its name, the audio release of Tulu movie 'Rang' on Sunday March 9 at Nehru Maidan was a colourful affair, more so with the presence of the king of comedies, Bollywood actor Johnny Lever who not only released the album but even entertained the audience with fabulous comedy.

The music album was launched by Johnny Lever together with district incharge minister Ramanath Rai, MLA Mohiuddin Bava, educationist A J Shetty and others. The album consists of five songs.

The movie, produced by Devadas Pandeshwar and Pramila D Pandeshwar has one song featuring Johnny Lever, for which he had shot in the city in December 2013.

Johnny Lever made a unique entry to the stage, with renowned magician Kudroli Ganesh making him 'appear' out of nowhere. As he soon as he came on to the stage, Lever, in his trademark style remarked in Tulu, "Am I in Kudla?" much to the delight of the audience.

Speaking further in Tulu, he narrated his association with Mangalore and particularly with the Tulu language and said, "I speak Tulu since childhood I am happy to be part of this Tulu movie. People of Tulunadu have given me so much love; they say 'Johnny is namma jana'."

He said that he enjoyed every bit of his role in the movie.

"Today technology has advanced a lot. It is difficult to make people laugh, because jokes are so widely accessible on the internet. If you tell a joke to a kid he will say it's an old joke that he has heard before. However, this movie ('Rang') has loads of humour," he said.

Johnny Lever then went on to crack jokes on mobile phones, technology and so on, and it was evident that people enjoyed every bit of it.

Pointing out that Tulu cinema has today reached the entire world, he urged even non-Tulu speaking people to watch the movie. He conveyed his best wishes to the cast and crew of the movie.

Apart from comedy by Johnny Lever, the audience were treated to spectacular dances by New Ocean Kids troupe and others, and soulful as well as peppy songs by various artistes. The songs of the movie as well as its trailer were also played. One of the highlights of the evening was a performance by 'Rang' movie's lead actors Arjun Kapikad and Deekshitha Acharya to the title song of the movie.

RJ Arpith, VJ Vineeth, and VJ Rahul compered the event.

The movie has been directed by Vismaya Vinayak and Suhan under the banner of Sri Kateeleshwari Combines. Arjun Kapikad and Deekshitha Acharya play the lead roles. Manikanth Kadri is the music director

Kannada music director V Manohar who was present on the occasion lauded the event and said that even in Sandalwood, the release ceremonies of movies are not held on such a grand scale as this.
