Mangalore, Mar 8: A small child that was playing on the ground got crushed under the wheels of a vehicle that moved backward without notice on Friday March 7. The victim was Rajendra (3), son of Rajasthan-based parents.
A 108 ambulance had been parked near Punarur Complex at Mulky by the side of national highway 66. A male child of a nomad couple from Rajasthan, who eke out a living by selling toys, was playing on the ground in the backside of the ambulance. The driver, who took his seat thereafter, put the vehicle on reverse gear. The wheels of the ambulance crushed the child before it could notice or react to this unexpected development.
Although he was immediately rushed to a hospital, Rajendra did not survive for long. A case in this connection was registered in Mulky police station.
