17th Serra Asian Convention in Bangalore on May 2-4

Bangalore, Mar 7: The 17th Serra Asian Convention of the Serra Club of Bangalore will be held in Bangalore in at The Park Plaza Hotel, Marathahalli, Bangalore from May 2 to 4.

The aim of the 3-day convention   is fostering and promoting vocations to the Catholic Church with the theme ‘Come, follow me.’ ( Luke 18:22)

The Apostolic Nuncio to India Most Rev Salvatore Pennacchio will be presenting the Key Note address. He will also be the main celebrant at the Opening Day’s Mass.  Archbishop Emeritus Ignatius Pinto will release the Souvenir of the Convention at the inauguration of the Convention.

Archbishop Filipe Neri  Ferrao, Archbishop of Goa, will be the main celebrant for the second day. The closing Mass will be celebrated by Oswald Cardinal Gracias, Archbishop of Bombay and His Grace Archbishop Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore.

Delegates form 10 Asian Countries will be participating in the convention. Indian delegation will be members from The Serra Club of Bangalore, The Serra Club of Salem and also from Goa (a Club in formation).
 
The Serra Club of Bangalore is an association of lay people in the Catholic Church that fosters and promotes vocations to the Priesthood and Consecrated Life.

It reaches out to Catholic children with programmes in schools and for altar servers, and holds a popular annual Scripture Quiz. In addition, it organizes the One-Mass-A Month Programme for all Catholics.
