Bangalore: BJP complains to electoral officials against Nandan Nilekani

Bangalore, Mar 7 (PTI):
Karnataka BJP today petitioned electoral authorities against Unique Identification Authority of India Chairman Nandan Nilekani, tipped to be the Congress candidate from Bangalore in Lok Sabha polls, taking exception to his name and picture figuring with Aadhar Card advertisements, when the model code of conduct is in force.

"For the last 15 or 20 days Bangalore has been seeing various advertisements where Nandan Nilekani proclaims himself to be the giver of about 60 crore Aadhar cards to Indians," Karnataka BJP Co-spokesperson Malavika Avinash told reporters after complaining to Chief Electoral Officer Anil Kumar Jha.

Pointing out that Nilekani is only an officer who was part of implementation of a Union Government scheme, she said "...it is not his private enterprise that he goes out advertising like this."

"Even so if he may have, he should have quit doing these advertisements....soon after the Chief Election Commissioner implemented the model code of conduct, but he has continued to advertise Aadhar card as his own private enterprise," she added.

Stating that BJP has strong objection on this matter, Malavika said "we have lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer, stating that he should be removed from his position as the Chief of Aadhar card project and all his advertisements should be withdrawn."

Questioning Nilakani's "Better Bangalore" advertisements, she said "who really is he to be claiming to make a better Bangalore..., in what capacity is he speaking is what we would like to know."

"He should refrain from doing so immediatly." she added.

Nilekani, a co-founder of software behemoth Infosys, has already launched campaign in Bangalore South Lok Sabha constituency, from where he is tipped to take on BJP leader Ananth Kumar, who has won the seat five times.

congis donot have any strong netas to oppose modiji. congis very well know that modiji winning is certain. therefore they nominate erre gerre as their candidate. nelekani and kaif are one of tool for Sonia like maun mohan.
mr. Declan / mr. jossey / n.m would have chances of candidature for congis but seems missed chance. still they can be choosen to stand front of modiji and sushmaji.

Nilekani should be ashamed of himself to have undertaken such a wasteful project wasting tax-payers hard earned money. This card doesn't even have complete date of birth of a person (shows only year of birth). This was just an addition to the long list of identity documents one should have in India - Pan card, ration card, Voter ID, driving licence, passport etc. It would have been a best project if all these (except passport) could have combined in such a way that one card will have all data of a person and can be used for various purposes.
Such a waste of public money was not expected from a highly educated person like Nilekani who fell into the trap of uneducated Italian people. This card was only an 'aadhaar' for him to enter into politics, nothing else. I think once BJP comes into power Aadhaar card scam will come out and show the reality to Indians.

The Bangaloreans are extremely fortunate that Mr. Nandan Nilekani is being considered for the elections by the Congress party. After a long long time, here is one good person who is capable of doing something for the place. Bangalore needs visionaries like Mr. Nilekani who, one should remember, gave up his lucrative post at Infosys and joined the public service with the sole intention of serving the people. Bangalore should grab this heavenly sent opportunity and elect Mr. Nilekani for their own good. They will be digging their own grave if they opt for Mr. Ananth Kumar, about whom the less said the better.

Dear Peace Lover,Please understand that Aadhaar is a mere waste for a country like India.Do you have any idea about which IT firms bagged the contracts connected with this biomatric card.If not get the facts. Why Indian IT giants like TCS,Wipro,Infosys did not got involved in this sa called presigious project. Are we so poor to deliver this very important card via ordinary post.Do you know the modes of deliverying ordinary post in our country?Do you have have any idea as to how many lakhs cards were returned undelivered by the postal dept/lost in the transit.Where we have no capability to deliver election identity card to the citizens free of cost at their door step, why this white elephant?Dont write simply for the sake supportive to politics.Even if BJP or others does this mistake its a mistake only.Waste of tax payers money 50000 crores rupees is not a matter of joke.
There no doubt person like Nilekani was used for the misdeeds of the govt.First govt should ensure election ID cards to the people at their door steps.

I think they have conceded defeat even before Nomination for Lok Sabha.
Nandan Nilekeni need not advertise, as all know who was in Charge of the Scheme, whether BJP likes it or not!
To cut loopholes in Public Distribution or Bogus Ration Cards & pilferage "Aadhar" is the only solution with bio metric & photo ID no one can Cheat which many politicians want to continue to save their VOTE BANK.

A DUMMY candidate for Bangalore South. He is contesting because of his craze on politics. First of all many congress leaders including Mr. Dinesh Gundrurao are against him and they will make sure he will lose. Even Parameshwara in not interested in giving tickets to him. It is only because Madamji influence.

Bangalore South has HUBBALLI HAIDA Ananth Kumarji...
Bangalore North has KUDLADA KUVARA Sadanandaji....
Bangalore central has Karunaada putra PC Mohanji...

All 3 are STRONGEST LEADERS and WINNING HORSES...

    Praveen,

I know his ancestors were from Andhra. He is very much Kannadiga now and speaks kannada at home. But our own SM Krishna and Ramya speaks english at home.

Ananth Kumar participated in UN meeting in the year 2012 and addresses the gatherings in KANNADA. This is what we want. We have won 8 JNANAPEETHA AWARDS for Kannada, out of which 3 are won by non-kannadigas. We support people who really cares for nela, jala and bhashe, does not matter their origin.

I know his attitude is not good. He and Ashoka wanted the Bangalore BJP under their control and that is why they opposed DVS candidature for Bangalore North. They know DVS will become central minister and they will lose dominance over Bangalore BJP. But in reality many Vokkaligas prefer DVS over Ananth Ashok Group. People call Anathu as Shakuni, but I call both Ashoka and Ananthu as Shakunis.

Nandan Nilekani is from Nilekani village in Karwar district. So, he is a true Kannadiga ( Konkani Mother tongue).
But Ananth Kumar is a Telugu man from Andhra whose father was a Railway employee in Hubli. His father who is from Seemandhra got job in Railways when Hubli Division was under South Central Rly with Secundrabad as head quarters. At that time 90% of the Railway jobs in Hubli Division was given to only Telugu people through Secunderabad Rly Recruitment Board and grave injustice was meted out to Kannadigas in Rly jobs. BJP President Prahlad Joshi is also a son of Rly employee. Prahlad Joshi, Anant Kumar and Myself were born and brought up in same Railway Colony in Hubli as my father was also a Rly employee in Hubli.
So, Why should Kannadigas support Telugu man like Anant Kumar instead of supporting Kannadiga Nandan Nelikani?
