M'lore: Team Mangalore participate in Thailand Kite Festival

Mangalore, Mar 7: Team Mangalore, a city based hobby group of kite flyers, on invitation from Satun Province, Thailand and event organisers Mr.Ron Spaulding and Mrs.Baew Spaulding participated in the  Satun International Kite Festival.

The event was held from February 27 to March 3 at Satun, Thailand; the team as representatives from India, participated in this  unique Kite Festival.





The team showcased some of the best kites flown by flyers  of international fame around the world. A three member team viz., Sarvesh Rao, Vasanth Kumar Sanil and Pran Hegde participated in this mega event.

Team Mangalore kites such as Kathakali, Yakshagana, Garuda, Gajaraja, Bharatnatya, Delta Devil, Durga, Charlie, Owl and Pushpaka Vimana received appreciation from the people of Thailand.  

During the event, the team  also distributed Indian fighter kites to the children free of cost. Many dignitaries and general public visited the stall of Team Mangalore where team had displayed all its kites.

Samrit Liangprasit,  chief executive officer,Satun Provincial Administrative office, Thailand visited the stall of Team Mangalore and appreciated the kites of the team and its various activities. The team members felicitated Samrit Liangprasit with a traditional shawl and honoured him with a memento.

Baew Spaulding, member of Thailand Kite Flyers Association was present during the felicitation. 

The event concluded with a grand ceremony. The team was felicitated during the function by Prayoon Ratanasenee,  vice governor of Satun Province, Thailand.

Sarvesh Rao received the honour on behalf of the team. Ron Spaulding on behalf of Thailand Kite Flyers Association appreciated the efforts of Team Mangalore for their active participation in the field.

Team Mangalore have previously participated in various International Kite Festivals held at Canada, UK, France, Thailand, Korea, Italy, Sri Lanka, Qatar, Hong Kong and recently also participated in the International Kite Festival held at Dubai.

The team has once again been successful in its mission of spreading culture through kites and showcased cultural heritage of India to the people of Thailand.
