Mangalore: Koora Tangal takes charge as Qazi of Ullal

Mangalore, Mar 7: Assayyid Hamid Fazal Koyamma Tangal Madani Koorat, popularly known as 'Koora Tangal' took charge as the new Qazi of Ullal at a ceremony held in the premises of Ullal Dargah here on Thursday March 6.
Koora Tangal is the son of the former Qazi Tajul Ulema Assayyid Abdurrahman Al Bukhari Ullal Tangal, who passed away recently.
Sheikh Swabah Al Rifai Al Qadiri Baghdad and Kantapuram A P Aboobacker Musliyar, secretary of All India Sunni Jamiyyatul Ulema, presented the 'Peta' to the new Qazi.
President of Ullal Central Mosque proclaimed that Koora Tangal has been accepted as the Qazi of 28 'mohallas' of Ullal.
Speaking after inaugurating the ceremony, A P Ustad said that the late Qazi Tajul Ulema Ullal Tangal had wished that his son be chosen as his successor. "It is heartening to see Koora Tangal take charge as the Qazi of Ullal as per his father's wish," he added.
"Some people have expressed difference of opinion regarding the appointment of the new Qazi. However, there is no need to consider them as being 'opposed'. Everyone should forget their differences and show unity. There should be no blame games," he urged.
"There is a demand to appoint an assistant Qazi for Ullal. Koora Tangal too has given his consent to this. Hence, the Dargah committee should appoint a religious scholar of Karnataka to this post," he advised.
Prof Abdulla Musliyar of Ullal Syed Madani Arabic College presided over the programme.
