Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency: BJP workers prefer C T Ravi as candidate

Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency: BJP workers prefer C T Ravi as candidate

Umesh Marpalli
Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (DV)

Udupi, Mar 5: Though top BJP leaders in the state including party state president Prahlad Joshi have said that the candidates for the Lok Sabha elections from the state have been almost finalized and are likely to be announced by the end of this week, uncertaintainty still hangs over its candidates from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi-Chikmagalur constituencies.

Although the BJP high command was willing to field former minister Shobha Karandlaje from Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency for the forthcoming elections, polling for which is scheduled to be held in Karnataka on April 17, the BJP workers and party leaders in Udupi are learnt to have expressed preference for C T Ravi, who presently represents Chikmagalur as MLA.

Sources said that BJP workers at the booth level met the district unit leaders who in turn conveyed to the BJP state leaders that they want C T Ravi to contest from this constituency.

The BJP had initially preferred to field former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda from Udupi-Chikmagalur. However, DVS wanted to contest from Bangalore North, a seat for which even R Ashok was vying for. The party then decided to field DVS from Mysore, but changed its mind once again and finally decided to field him from Bangalore North. DVS had earlier been elected as MP from Mangalore as well as Udupi-Chikmagalur constituencies. But after he relinquished the seat on becoming the chief minister, the BJP lost Udupi-Chikmagalur seat to Jayaprakash Hegde of Congress.

Shobha Karandlaje too had been pitching for Bangalore North ticket but the party asked her to contest from Udupi-Chikmagalur. However, C T Ravi is said to have opposed her candidature and expressed his willingness to contest from here.

With supporters and BJP party workers backing C T Ravi's candidature, the party state leaders are likely to make a change in the list and include his name, especially as Shobha Karandlaje herself does not enjoy much popularity in this constituency.

Yes. The bjp can guarantee by bowing their heads and apologizing to Minorities only in Minds, in words, and in Lips.

ONCE THEY CATCH THE POWER THEY START LIKE THE FOLLOWING.

    1) Madhya Pradesh atrocities against Christians, mainly nuns, pastors and priests.
    2) Gujarat atrocities against Christians and massacre of Muslims
    3) Orissa BJP combined BJDL Christian massacres.
    4) Karnataka attacks on churches and beating against Christians.

It's a well known fact that RSS backed BJP is a fox in sheep's clothing. Now they are talking of development after winning they will unleash mindless violence against minorities in India.

These semi literate RSS thugs are trained to assault and attack. Sangh is a venomous organization.

BJP doesn't understand that by sidelining, harassing, committing atrocities and demeaning 20-25 crore people INDIA cannot progress.

BJP paid a price for their foolishness in Orissa post Kandhmal in 2008.

IN this case Ravi is a hate monger and is highly communal and has no understanding of Lok Sabha proceedings. He is another henchman of extremist BJP.

Hindus vote for Congress more than Christians and Muslims .

Proof is the fact that Christians and Muslims constitute only 18 percent of India's population and its SIMPLE COMMON SENSE that to win you will require the votes of majority Hindus apart from 'side votes' from Christian and Muslims.

Man...your knowledge of math and percentages is VERY POOR!!

And since 60 years majority of Hindus has trusted Congress and not RELIGIOUS BIGOTS & EXTREMISTS like BJP' and that's the reason why they have won.

Your allegations prove that you are from the brainwashed RSS school of thought. Typical Misinformed, Radical & Illogical.

It is not the BJP or Congress or any other party for that matter, we are mainly concerned about our safety. The election commission should ban for the elected representatives from contesting other elections because if they win, they will resign for the earlier post and again a by-election should be done at the cost of Taxpayers money. On the other hand, whenever a elected representative resign or give up his / her seat the same should go to the candidate who has second highest votes.

This will save crores of tax payers money, public servants' time and all other resources spent for the by-elections.

This will be a super cost saving plan for the election commission.

So far all the political parties misused public money for by elections for the individual greed / fantasy.

Why you are begging for the support of the most corrupt Yediyurappa? Why did you appoint corrupt Gadkari as in-charge of Delhi elections? Why do you oppose Jan Lokpal? Why do you oppose 'Right to reject' and 'Right to recall'? Why do you oppose freedom to CBI? Why did you invite Muslims to come in burqa to attend your Rajastan rally? Why did MP CM Chouhan wear skull cap to appease muslims, but you are blaming other parties of Muslim appeasement?

C.T. Ravi is very popular figure in Chikamagaluru district and has strong backing from Vokkaliga community, which is dominated in this Coffee estate rich Malenadu district, also the Sangh Parivar is very strong in this area, which backs him, he is equally popular in Udupi especially with Hindu community and BJP workers. He will give a good fight to Mr. Jayaprakash Hegde, and Modi wave will also help him, people who think Mr. JP Hegde will have cake walk are living in fools paradise, we are getting a strong feedback from friends & well wishers from Udupi & Chikamagaluru that BJP workers are working day and night to make him contest the seat, and he is ready for the battle, as
Ms. Shobha Karndlaje is a weak candidate and she is opposed in both the districts. It is 100% certain that Mr. CT Ravi will get the ticket, Bad luck Shobha, you can look after Mr. Yedurappa's campaign in Shivamoga constituency.
We wish Mr. C.T. Ravi all the very best, as he had helped us a lot during our coffee plantation problems and improving the roads passing through the coffee estates.
Mr. C.T. Ravi you are the perfect candidate, best of luck sir.
