Kasargod: Girl imitates suicide scene on television, dies

Kasargod, Mar 5: In a shocking incident which occurred at Chertala near here on Tuesday March 4, a girl who was driven by the enthusiasm to enact hanging scene in front of her sibling, paid by her life in the process.

She was trying to imitate a suicide scene shown on television by hanging, when she actually got trapped in the noose and it was too late before someone could help her out.

Srilakshmi (17), daughter of Muralidharan and Sindhu couple from Puttarvali in Maruttorvattam, Chertala, had recently watched a scene in her neighbour’s television in which a girl had hanged herself. Srilakshmi made a noose by using a nylon cloth and was enacting the said suicide scene in the presence of her sister, Jayalaxmi, when she could not free herself from the noose.

As soon as she saw her sister struggling for breath, Jayalakshmi raised an alarm and called her neighbours, as parents were not at home at the time. Those living in  the neighbourhood rushed to the spot and admitted Srilakshmi into a hospital but it was too late for doctors to save her.
