Karkala, Mar 5: The case of mysterious disappearance of two girl students from the taluk has been successfully cracked by the local police. Personnel from the town police station here, who visited Bijapur in this respect, brought back both the minor girls and entrusted them to their parents.

Suma V (15) and Harshita (15), both living in the same locality in Doopadakatte near Nitte in the taluk had suddenly gone missing after leaving home for school on March 1. Both are ninth standard students of SNV School here.

Suma V had collected four thousand rupees from her parents that day, claiming that this amount was required to be remitted to the school as fee. She was accompanied by her friend, Harshita. Both went missing thereafter, and the parents later learnt that they had not reached their school.

After making enquiries and conducting searches at various places, parents of the girls had lodged a kidnap complaint in the police station here, as they were unclear about the nature of their disappearance, either voluntary act or kidnap.

The police personnel gathered information that the students had taken a bus to Udupi on March 1, before travelling by a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus to Bijapur from there. After reaching Bijapur, the students had contacted some people known to them over cell phone. On the basis of this information, the police rushed to Bijapur and conducted searches at tourist spots there. They succeeded in locating the two girls and bringing them back.

The girls confessed to the police personnel that they had been fed up by the harassment and pressure faced from their family members.

Circle inspector, G M Naykar had taken up the investigation under the guidance of assistant superintendent of police, Annamalai. Kabbilraj, sub-inspector of police here, had registered the case.

May be parents should have made them to do chores like cleaning others house, or working part time at stores, to earn their school fees. Then they would have known what is the pressure. Now a days parents are working hard to give kids everything. But kids things its pressure by sitting at home and watching tv.

The story is incomplete. Many things missing, most importantly, where were these girls staying and who gave them support in Bijapur.

Parents' harassment could be just an excuse, there should be somebody who prompted them to go on a picnic.
