Mangalore: DK bandh - J R Lobo distributes free food to stranded passengers

Mangalore, Mar 3: Even as the district came to a halt over Netravati water issue on Monday, March 3, Mangalore South MLA J R Lobo in a laudable gesture distributed free food to all the stranded passengers at the bus stand who were starving due to the impact of the bandh.
It is learnt that nearly 580 KSRTC buses were canceled due to the bandh; as a result of which scores of passengers had to suffer as they had no other means of transport to reach their destinations.
With the situation being such, Lobo distributed free food to all the passengers who were stuck at the bus stand. As many as 350 to 400 people were able to have lunch because of his gesture.
Lobo also spoke to the stranded passengers and listened to their greveinces and gave them moral support while also explaining the situation.
Speaking to media persons, Lobo said the people of the district have expressed their opposition to the Yettinahole project through the bandh. "There is a need for proper scientific study with regard to this project. I will again discuss this issue with the CM and the governmnent and bring the picture to their notice," he said.
Former MLA Vijaykumar Shetty said the bandh has been successful in all ways. "Many associations have voluntarily joined hands with us for a noble cause to prevent the diversion of the Netravti river. Massive protests will be held in the coming days, if the government does not fulfill our demands," he added.
Activists of various associations who have been supporting the bandh were also preent on the occasion and rendered their help.
Leaders P V Mohan, Denis D’Silva, T K Sudhir, Ramanand Bolar, Dinakar Shetty, Shashiraj Shetty Kolambe, M G Hegde, Jayakar Samarth, Nemiraj Shetty, Badruddin, Radhakrishna and others were present.
