Mangalore: Ashraya celebrates decennial with 'Manoranjan'

Mangalore, Mar 3: ‘Manoranjan 2014’, the decennial celebrations of ‘Ashraya’, a shelter for homeless and destitute girls, run by Youth Social Service Charitable Trust, was held at the Town Hall on Sunday March 2.

A formal stage function was held on the occasion.

Dr Shantaram Shetty, chairman, Tejaswini Hospitals,  Lancy Mendonca, NRI businessman, Gerald Crasta, NRI businessman, Albert Pais, proprietor, Pais Constructions, and Dr Vidhyasagar of Tejaswini Hospital, were the chief guests. Lancelot Pinto, corporator and the founder of Ashraya, was also present on the dais.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shetty rendered his best wishes to Pinto, his trust, and the decennial celebration of Ashraya. “A person who donates even a little would want it to be published. But the fact that Lancelot has been doing such a great service to mankind without any expectations, shows his kindness and greatness,” he said.

The highlight of the event was a musical extravaganza by well-known vocal and instrumental artistes, comedy by Mimicry Gopi and dance performances by the well-known dance troupe of the city Ocean Kids. Compere VJ Hisrar rocked the show.
