Mangalore: BJP releases book on Nalin Kumar's achievements as MP

Mangalore, Mar 1: A book detailing the development works initiated by Nalin Kumar Kateel during his tenure as MP of Mangalore, the amount spent on these projects and also the proposed projects, was released at the BJP district office here on Saturday March 1 by BJP district president Pratap Simha Nayak.
The book titled, 'Nalin Kumar Kateel Sansadaragi 5 Varsha: Kshetra Abhivriddhiya Pathadalli' has been brought out by the disrict BJP unit.
Addressing the media, MP Nalin Kumar said, "The BJP veteran leaders trusted me and gave me an opportunity to contest for the MP election (five years ago). With the support of the party workers and voters along with the blessings of my elders and God, I won the elections and became the MP. I had no prior experience of contesting any election, nor any family members in politics."
Elaborating on the book, he said, "Funds have been released for various projects in these last five years, and accordingly, development works have been carried out across the district. The book giving detailed information on projects carried out during my tenure has been authored by my friend and today were are releasing it."
"Out of the MP fund, Rs 19.61 crore has been utilized completely for various projects in the constituency. I have taken part in nearly 15 discussions and have put forth as many as 280 issues in the parliament such as Tulu language to be added in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, areca crop disputes, Niddodi project, delay in four-laning of highways and various others. Development has been given high importance," he said.
"In all, Rs 1,340.83 crore has been utilized in my constituency through funds for various projects, which include drinking water schemes, DK panchayat-level development works, Sarva Shikshana Abhiyana projects, highway works etc. The funds have been utilized in the right manner with regular follow-ups," he assured.
He further added, "Regular railway meetings have been held and plans to solve the problems pertaining to railways have been chalked out. These include construction of bridge above Bykampady railway line, underpasses across Padil, Kudpady, Adyar and Mahakalipadpu.
"Development of rural areas has been given high importance. Problems with relation to SEZ have also been solved, keeping in mind the interests of locals and farmers. As many as 26 new BSNL towers have also been installed for wider network coverage across the rural areas. CM fund and PM relief fund also have been utilized in the right manner. Funds have also been collected from MRPL and KIOCL and utilized for various projects across the district," he added.
"Narendra Modi will be the next PM of India and BJP will come back to power at the centre. There is still lots to learn and a lot of development in the district is still pending. All these projects will be carried out soon," he said.
Leaders Prathap Simha Nayak, Monappa Bhandary, Sulochana G K Bhat, Satish Prabhu, Devdas Shetty, Kishore Rai and others were present.
