Bangalore, Mar 1: Decks have been cleared for the return of BSR party founder, B Sriramulu, into the BJP fold. Reliable sources said he will be joining the BJP within a week.
Sriramulu recently met BJP leaders, Nitin Gadkari and Arun Jaitley, at New Delhi and held discussions with them. The discussions have been fruitful, and Sriramulu has decided to return to the party, it is learnt.
It is gathered that Jagadish Shettar, Eshwarappa, and other party leaders from Karnataka had favoured the return of Sriramulu to the party as they feel this will strengthen the party’s position in north Karnataka districts like Bellary, Raichur, and Koppal, where he has a huge following. The leaders were in a hurry to pave way for his early return, to be able to get benefit of his popularity during the coming Lok Sabha election.
He had quit as MLA and from BJP in September 2011 following the arrest of former minister Gali Janardhan Reddy. He contested as an independent candidate from Bellary and won. He then floated his own party Badava Shramika Raitha Congress (BSR Congress).
