Mangalore, Feb 27: The Department of General Surgery and Obstetrics and Gynaecology, OBG in collaboration with the department of Oncosurgery and Urology Father Muller Medical College Hospital is organizing ‘Muller Laparosurg-2014’, a live workshop on Minimal Access Surgery for General Surgeons, Oncosurgeons, Urologists and Gynaecologists on March 1 and March 2 at Father Muller Charitable Institutions, said Dr Erel Diaz, HOD and professor, Department of General Surgery, addressing the media at the press club, here on Thursday, February 27.
Laparoscopic surgery / minimal access surgery or keyhole surgery, is a modern surgical technique in which operations are performed through small openings. Laparoscopy/ Keyhole surgery is preferred by patients as well as surgeons as it less painful with smaller scars and faster recovery to resume their routine activities.
The workshop is conducted to empower the eminent doctors to inspire and to create a path breaking insight in the field of minimal access surgeries. The workshop aims to demonstrate various Colorectal, Upper Gl, Hernia, Urological and gynecological procedures by renowned laparoscopic surgeons from various parts of our country.
The inauguration of the same will take place on March 1 at 9am at Decennial Memorial Hall, Father Muller Medical College. The chief guest of the function will be Dr Rajgopal Shenoy, Head, Department of Surgery, KMC, Manipal.
Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director, FMCI will preside over the function.
Dr Leo Francis Tauro, professor, Departmnet of Surgery and Dr Prema D’Cunha, HOD and Professor, Department of OBG were also present.
