Mangalore: Roy Castelino appointed president of state Konkani Sahitya Academy

Mangalore, Feb 26: Konkani activist Ronald Sebastian Castelino, popularly known as Roy Castelino, has been appointed as the president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy.
The appointment was announced on Wednesday February 26.
The post has been vacant since June last year, when Kasargod Chinna was forced to resign after the new state government came into being. The new chief minister had then directed all academy presidents, except that of Media Academy, to step down.
Roy Castelino is also the president of Konkani Prachar Sanchalan and former president of Rachana. He is a trustee of Sandesha Foundation, and director of Kalaangann apart from being executive member of Mandd Sobhan. He also heads Roy Constructions.
Roy Castelino, born to the late Thomas and the late Jessy Castelino of Makale, Kulshekar, had his early education at Sacred Heart Higher Primary School, Kulshekar, St Aloysius High School and obtained his bachelor's degree in science from St Aloysius College. After his college education, he moved to Muscat and worked there for about three years. After returning to Mangalore, he entered the real estate scene and established Roy Constructions.
He is married to Dianisia D'Silva and has a daughter by name Radhika.
