Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)
Bangalore, Feb 26: Frustrated at not getting the parliamentary constituency of his choice, and pained at the bitter opposition to his candidature form the leaders of the party belonging to the constituency allotted to him, former state chief minister, D V Sadananda Gowda (DVS), it is learnt, is seriously considering the option of staying aloof from fighting this election.
Highly places sources in the party have informed that DVS plans to lay bare his mind in front of BJP national president, Rajnath Singh, when the latter visits the city on Wednesday February 25. At the same time, some feel this might be a political gimmick being employed by DVS to get ticket for the constituency of his choice.
Although DVS was hell bent on being fielded from Bangalore (north) constituency, he failed to get the nod, as party strongman and former deputy chief minister, R Ashok, stuck to the demand not to field outsiders from this constituency. As such, DVS was allotted Mysore constituency, but there has been revolt against his candidature from several quarters there, it is gathered. This has created a dilemma in the mind of DVS.
DVS is likely to moot a proposal to get involved with campaigning for the party without fighting the election. He may, however, fall in line with the suggestion made by the party president, party sources said. Some insiders feel that this is a tactic employed by DVS to pressurize the party to reconsider its stand and allot him Bangalore (north) constituency, as Ashok has already clarified that he will not fight the coming Lok Sabha election. Further, it is said that Malleshwaram MLA, Ashwathnarayana, whom the party proposes to field from here, has told the party leaders that he will fight the election only if the party promises to reimburse to him entire poll-related expenses. This has given hope for new possibilities, and DVS sees a ray of hope in these developments.
At the same time, signs emanating from Congress party indicated that state president of the party, Dr G Parameshwar, has expressed his support for minister, Krishna Byre Gowda, from Bangalore (north) constituency, and asked other leaders to support Gowda’s candidature during the internal election scheduled to be held shortly. If Gowda is disinclined to fight the election, C Narayana Swamy is planned to be chosen for this constituency, it is gathered.
