Mangalore: Rumble within Congress over internal poll to decide LS candidate

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Feb 24: In connection to the process of internal poll planned to zero in on the prospective candidate for the coming Lok Sabha election from Dakshina Kannada constituency, the work of voter registration began on Sunday February 23. However, party workers were seen complaining about the fact that only a chosen few are allowed to cast their votes in favour of the candidate of their choice.

For the successful conduct of the election, 16 persons deputed by All India Congress Committee have been distributed at the rate of two persons per assembly constituency as polling officers. They reached the respective constituencies and set the work of registering voters into motion.

The work of voter registration will continue till 1 pm on February 25, and the preliminary list will be published in the district Congress office on February 26, and the final list will be published on the next day, it is gathered.

It is learnt that the party observers came across resentment from booth and ward level presidents and office bearers when the process of voter registration went under way in a block in the city. They were particularly angry at the fact that only a few persons have been given the right to vote, neglecting the legitimate right of party workers who have been serving the party since long. They felt that at least booth level presidents and office bearers of the party should have been allowed to cast their votes. Some were against holding of internal poll to decide on the party candidate.

After Church Attack cases slapped against Christians Saddhu Gowda removed the cases and for removing Saddhu Gowda was shelved from C.M., position.

RSS proposed Modi as P.M Candidate. Many in BJP's objected. RSS said all BJP's should support MOdi. Everybody shut-Up.

Congress Grass root level leaders rumblings, specially Ward President and Booth Level President, shall lead to catastrophe in Mangalore District Congress. Sometimes I wonder Grass root lever workers or Foot Soldiers are neglected throughout their stay in a Political Party, except during election. Even Panchayat members or Corporators do not bother about them after they get elected, forget about MLA's or M.P.'s. (There may be exception).

V Moily has no face to show in South as he has done nothing for his home constituency in the years when he was minister and then CM of Karnataka. What is his contribution to development in South and Karkala (5 to 6 times MLA) and now he is trying for his Son to get an MP seat which will be a definite loss for congress. They should find a suitable candidate like J.P.Hegde else it will be catwalk for BJP.

In modern politics, a primary election is essential for transparency. It throws up the best candidate and gives a clear picture as to who will be most suitable to contest elections from the party ticket.

I feel Mr. Poojary should win as this could possibly be his last election. He has mellowed down and is able to connect with all communities in a friendly manner and will be able to raise his voice in Parliament whereas silent Nalin only serves the right wing radical supporters.

This procedure of holding primaries is already in place in most developed democracies.

Mangaloreans should welcome this move as Sangh backed BJP have only foisted their incompetent candidates on us since 1991.

harsha moily should first know each and evry corporator of mangalore by tier name first, then he also should know who are the booth presidents without working at the grass root level how can he be given an MP ticket just like that...
There are so many senior candidates who worked at grass root level .how this guy can get this ticket or even contend for an MP ticket just because his father ia a minister ???

Harsha Moily has been force landed in Mangalore by his Minister Father, serviced by Ministers so called supporters, who do not want that Senior Congress Leader, with whip lash toungue Shriman J.Poojary should get ticket to contest L.S.election. They fear their down gradation in the Congress Party if he wins, most of the Congress cadres are confident of his Victory this time.

the fact what v can agree is,there is no comparison between j-poojary & junior moily? but its a waste of congress energy all over india.they will not win,and here in mangalore if poojary contest number of votes he might accumulate more,h-moily wil not get that figure of votes.but end of the day congress will not win?. what happened to B.J.P in karnataka in last assembly election the same thing willreverse for congress in may 2014 election, and also they realy deserve it.

This is internal democracy now how will brainwashed, thick skulled Sanghis understand this???? BJP walas dont understand democracy because their candidates are ed from Nagpur.

They only know the language of violence. Our suggestion is that they should give up politics and start 'demolition company' and 'rent-a-riot' 'immoral policing organization' company... after all they have good experience in the same field since 1992.
