Mangalore, Feb 22: "The process for internal voting to choose the Congress candidate for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from Mangalore will begin from Sunday February 23. As part of internal election, 16 ARO (assembly returning officers) in eight constituencies, and two LRO (Lok Sabha returning officers) will be deployed in Dakshina Kannada," said Preniel Naik, LRO for internal election from All India Congress Committee (AICC).

Addressing a press meet here on Saturday February 22, Naik said, "Voters can enroll their names between February 23 and February 25 till 1 pm at the party block office. There will be 19 criteria based on which the voters will be selected, such as the voter has to be former MP or hold top positions in panchayats or Seva Dal, etc. The AROs will scrutinize the draft voters' list and publish it on February 26. There will be an opportunity to point out any error in the list on February 27." Results are expected to be out by the evening the same day.

He further added, "Candidates will file their nominations on February 28 between 12 noon and 4 pm. On the same day scrutiny of candidates will be done. On March 1 objections to the nominations can be filed. On March 2, the final list of candidates will be displayed in DCC office.

"The internal voting will be held on March 9 after a convention of voters. Candidates will also be provided an opportunity to address the voters within the party to brief on their achievements."

On this occasion LRO Pramod Kumar, Dr Hanumanthaiah, general secretary, KPCC, Ibrahim Kodijal and B H Khader Bantwal were present.

While probable claimants for the seat from Dakshina Kannada are B Janardhan Poojary and Harsha Moily, Bangalore (north) constituency has many aspirants like B L Shankar, Prof Rajeev Gowda, Aarati Krishna, C Narayana Swamy, Ramesh B Gowda, and K C Rama Murthy.

Harsha is right by saying chance should be given to fresh candidates.
but it should be applicable to everywhere including Chikkaballapur.
I am sure Poojary will win with huge margin as he was hard worker and anti corrupt throughout the life.
Nalini may win in the final election as this internal poll procedure has given huge advantages to under performer Nalini Kumar.

Let's give Janardhan Poojary one last chance It might be his last election. Apart from his style of talking, he has been sincere and corruption free. He has represented the cross section of our society and tried to bring people together.

Let's not forget even present MP -Nalin Kumar sought his blessings when they met on a road during campaigning in 2009.

He played a major role in setting up several colleges, schools and other institutions, including the famous Kudroli Temple in Mangalore.

Lets not forget, it was his idea as a Minister of Finance to organize Loan Melas to give assistance to the weaker sections of the society.

After 1990, most Sangh backed BJP MP's in Mangalore have nothing much to brag about their achievements apart from radicalism and driving a wedge between communities.

It's a welcome sign that there will be Internal elections to decide the MP candidate. Its any day better than having a Sanghi candidate foisted on Mangaloreans.

Since the past 20 years, the BJP has forced a candidate down our throats who at the end of his tenure has achieved nothing. 2014 is a time for a change and Mangaloreans need to move away from radical politics of the Sangh. Let the Congress Committee members decide whom they want to contest.

Hence Harsha should not be given ticket.I am also against that we should not give preference for our old Netas who r above 70 years & above.Hence Mr.Poojary is ruled out. Don't we have new, young, qualified & honest people in Mangalore. What about Women empowerment.

Now both the groups will supply LIQUOR to congress workers to get their votes for them. This is congress culture. They will give unlimited liquor, chicken, mutton biryani and cash notes.

And a typical congress worker after drinking neck deep, holding the empty bottle will sing Yograj Bhat's song :

Yesterday Harsha Moily has supported diversion of Netravati river/Yettinahole Project just like his father veerappa Moily . If Harsha Moily is elected for MP seat by Cong internal election, then it means that entire Congress party is in favour of Netravati river diversion. In that case Congress should be considered as enemy of Tulunadu.

Its just looks like throwing out V.P. Singh during 1990's peack time of Ayodhya's Ram Mandir. Shri Janardhan Poojary has done a wonderful job during Prime Minister Rajive Gandhi's time, waiving all the loans of poor people as well as for the last five years listening and settling with people's problems. It will be great insult and embarrassment for a Senior Politician like Janardhan Poojary if he failed to get a Lok Sabha Ticket from Mangalore Constituency. Best Wishes Sir.... Surely you will win if you get the ticket...

I propose the Congress invites Dr.Derek Lobo to contest from Mangalore. Dr.Derek hails from dedicated Congress family and both his late father and mother were Congress councillors. Besides possessing with a proverbial medical "Hat Gun" Dr.Lobo's record as UNO doctor who had served in many countries with a glittering record is a down to earth person and is certainly the best candidate I can think of to contest from Mangalore.

I wish the Congress all the best, especially to Dr.Derek Lobo

Thanks to Harsha Moily for the Internal Voting, Hope this method they should implement while giving ticket to Corporators, Panchayath Members, MLA's, Party Presidents in District level, State level and Central level, Hence application of Butter or use of Money Power or Group-ism Power shall be eliminated in certain degree.

Pseudo Nationalists? Who are today glorifying the same Sardar Patel who banned Sangh for the murder of Gandhi and anti national activities.

Same Pseudo Nationalists who secretly supported the British when WE Indians fought for Independence.

Pseudo Nationalists who talk about granting asylum to Bangladeshi Hindus but refuse to help Tamil Lankans?

N.M., improve your general knowledge... Sardar Patel united India & merged many divided portions, like Goa, Pondichery, etc. Naturally, nation first, & Namo considers him a model role.
It is Congress policy first to support Akhali thakth or Tamil movement & later withdraw support. For the fate of tamils in Lanka, blame it on Congress & not Namo.
You speak of freedom fighting. Please check details of role of Nehru in getting Independence. Also, check in google images of his Photo with Lady Moun...
Since Independence, for Congress it is personal interest first & next nation. As a result, we have endless Scams, & Swiss deposits.
