Bantwal, Feb 22: A woman, who was married into a family in Kanyana in the taluk eight months ago, was found dead under suspicious circumstances on the night of Thursday February 20. It is suspected that she committed suicide, unable to bear mental and physical torture inflicted on her by her husband.

Savita (27), daughter of Uggappa Gowda from Hirebail village in Moodigere taluk, Chikmagalur district, was found dead at the home of her in-laws.

Sunil, son of Sankappa Gowda from Kanichchar, Kanyana village, had married her. It is alleged that Sunil used to come home in an inebriated condition regularly, and used to abuse his wife physically and mentally.

After Savita tried to commit suicide late night on Thursday, she was brought to a private hospital in Puttur. However, she was pronounced brought dead. The body was then shifted to the mortuary in the government hospital, Puttur.

The parents of the deceased have complained to the personnel of Vittal police station that their daughter decided to end her life, as she was fed up with the intolerable mental and physical agony she regularly suffered at the hands  of her husband’s family.

Some injury marks were found in the neck region of the body. Parents of the deceased have also expressed doubt as to whether Savita committed suicide by hanging herself or consuming poison. The policemen said they can come to a definite conclusion about the cause of death after the post mortem and detailed investigation.

Our Indian society has this age old culture of getting the girl married off to husband's house, it is indeed so hard to cope up with the new people, why can't we try the other way let the boy come over to the girls family then I m sure everyone will be happy and there will not be any torture from any one.

@ well wisher,Udipi.first thing when a Girl is harassed in her husband's house, mostly because of dowry matter.many of them undergo torture daily with words and deeds.no one is ready or can tolerate this for Long.second ,I dont think a Boy will go and stay in in-laws house.would you? They think it is like under in-laws.bad for EGO.till now it was a Tradition Girl has to go to husbands house.I would prefer the couple should stay separately when possible to avoid the possibility Problem later. Here should the Boy clever enough to decide for the future and his wife. But he too should not back the dowry Irritation.

So sad to hear so often about Young Girls suicides or murder soon after marriage or in-laws Problems. This Problem can be solved if the Girl and the Boy should know each other or give your daughter to a local Person not to a far away Person who you know nothing about him(Secrets)his past etc.for a marraige time they tell everything fine and golden colours.later you will come to know the coating is fallen and true colour Comes to shine.save your Girl from agony and her life.

Its always ' suspicious' when a married girl even dies accidently or committs suiccide with her free will. But when husband gets killed by in laws or committs suiccide its normal death. Indian laws never been so misandry !. Absolute no ethic as far as justice for men are concerned.

Its quite disturbing to see daily such news of married woman.I urge the state govt please make tougher laws to these demons.Such people r cancerous to the society.First of all after a marriage a girl leaves her blood relatives far behind and copes up with the new family.Men should imagine this in the place of women. Its not easy to accept new family. It requires lot of mental, psychological commitment.Man as a husband should be a proud of his status.Because from this status onwards he gets his own family. That's how he gets to be the head of family.By beating and torturing his woman ,it clearly shows how impotent he is.Who doesn't have stress in life, financial problems etc.By hurting others one cannot achieve it.In this world you can earn money easily ,but lost dignity can never be earned back.Be a good husband and wife ,treat each other like a long lost friend, live happily, make desired kids.Seek always god 's help.once in a year try to go on vacation with family instead of wasting that money on alcohol ,cards etc and then abusing wife.See the world in positive way be an optimist. You rule the world, don't let materialistic thing rule over you.
I know i sound philosopher ,such news makes me so ,can't help it.

If society respects those separated, divorced woman, then woman will have some courage to fight all atrocities at in laws home. Or else this would be the fate of most Indian woman who are most tolerant and sacrificial.
