Mangalore: Suratkal murder case - Main accused surrenders

Mangalore, Feb 21: Relating to a case in which Prakash from Andhra Pradesh was dragged out of a bus and brutally murdered in broad daylight on February 4 this year, Naga alias Nagaraj (32) from Kodikere near Suratkal surrendered before the station house officer of Suratkal station, M A Nataraj, on Thursday February 20.

He also handed over the weapon used for the murder, it is gathered.
Nagaraj is accused of entering the bus in which Prakash was travelling near NITK Suratkal, dragging him out of the bus, and then indiscriminately inflicting deep injuries to his abdomen and other body parts with a sabre. Prakash was killed instantly. It is said that this murder was carried out as an act of vengeance.
The main accused told the police that he had visited Padubidri after the murder, and then proceeded on a tour of Mumbai, Tirupati, and other places. He confessed that he had obtained shelter at the homes of some of his friends in other places till now. It is said that Nagaraj was also involved with several other cases registered in Suratkal, Bajpe and other police stations.
It may be recalled that three other accused in the case including a juvenile, have already surrendered before the police.
