Mangalore, Feb 20: "It is not correct to set rules for literature. However, if literature evolves itself into a framework of rules, those rules should consist of human values," said Dr N Mogasale.

He was speaking at Tota Bengre’s Dr G S Shivarudrappa podium while presiding over the unique All Karnataka Moonlight Literary Conference held recently.

“While there are discussions whether conferences are necessary or not, several unique conferences such as Alva’s Nudisiri, Dharwad literary conference and such other conferences draw our attention. This conference held in the night, is such an innovation,” he said.

A S N Hebbar, who inaugurated the conference said that if litterateurs become leaders such as the prime ministers, the standard of the country would improve.

A 45-minute procession was held in a special boat with the president and the guests prior to the inauguration.

Hebbar set in motion the conference by uncovering the portraits of the president and handing over the sapling of gendali coconut.

Famous magician Giligili magic’s Junior Shanker inaugurated the children’s talent show and called upon the parents not to thrust the thoughts of the elders on them. Mudradi’s Nama Thuluver association’s Sukumar Mohan presided over the programme.

Harikrishna Punarooru, former state president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Dakshina Kannada Parishat, Bengre Mahajana Sabha president Shekar Suvarna, senior journalist Malar Jayarama Rai, coporation member Meera Karkera, Bengare student association youth wing president Yatish B, Secretary Kiran, Borgal Gudde Manjunath, Sunil Byndoor etc were present.

Co-ordinator, Moonlight committee president Shekar Ajekar welcomed and gave a key note address. Siddakatte Mallika Shetty compered the programme.

Children Yash Jogi Udupi, Harsha Kotian Moodbidri, Mayuri and Manavi sisters Kasargod, Anirud Vasista Sharma Kasargod, Divit Kotian Moodbidri, Divya Sri Sullia, Abhilash Kinnigoli, Mahalaxmi Uppinakudru, Sanket Bengre etc. were felicitated.


Moonlight Felicitation

“Identification increases responsibility. While it is appropriate to identify the people who have done well for the society, it increases their responsibility to increase their work, said Harikrishna Punarroru, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat.

He spoke after felicitating senior achievers in various spheres during the fifth all Karnataka moonlight literary conference at Bengre.

Noted author and journalist Srinivasa Jokatte of Mumbai spoke on intent and said that Shekar Ajekar has performed several noble deeds at Mumbai. "He has also shown them on homeland during Moonlight celebrations. The moonlight conference is such that everybody is desirous of relishing its glory," he said.

Senior poet Radhakrishna Uliathadka opined that the conference has created history with its unique style. Dr Gananatha Ekkaru and Dr Nikethana couple were felicitated with Karnataka couple Ratna, Fr Basil Vas, Moodbidri with Karnataka Konkani Ratna, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura with Karnataka Sanghatana Ratna, Yogish Bhat, Mangalore with Karnataka political Ratna, Irvathur Bhaskar S Kotian with Karnataka Kambala Ratna, Mohammed Ali Abbas with Karnataka Udyama Ratna, Kudroli Ganesh with Karnataka Jadoo Ratna, Parvati G Aithal, Kundapur with Karnataka Sahitya Ratna, B V Gayatri Ningappa, Sagara with Karnataka Kala Ratna, Sculptor K Shivarama Acharya, Karkal with Karnataka Shilpa Kala Ratna and Seetharam Kumar Kateel was felicitated with Karnataka Yakshagana Hasya Ratna.

Navakarnataka publications manager Harish Kumar received honor on behalf of South Kanara photographers Association president Vasudev Devarao and group and head of Bethani sisters, Mangalore.

Bengare student’s association youth wing president Yatish B, Vice president Sachin and secretary Kiran were present.

 

Women’s Meet

In the women’s meet presided over by Siri Kannada forum’s district president Padma Mohan, Mangalore VVSSS official Professor Vinitha D Shaila U gave a lecture. Journalist M J Rao was the guest. A discussion was held on town and language that was presided by Radhakrishbna Uliathadka.

Dr Gananatha Ekkaru spoke on what is necessary for Tulu language and Vithori Karkal spoke on the contribution of coastal region to Konkani language.


Youth Meet

The youth meet presided over by poet Manohar S Kunder, MGM college journalist professor Borgal Gudde Manjunatha, Kundapra.com editor Sunil Byndoor threw light on the problems faced by youth. Sukumar Muniyal, editor of Suddi Kirana magazine and Vishwakarma.com editor Umadhara S Vishwakarma were the guests.


Poetry Meet

In a poetry meet presided by Mumbai’s poet, Journalist, Srinivasa Jokatte, Radhakrishan Thodikana and Radhakrishna Uliathadka were special invitees. They presented poems and spoke on poetry. Senior and junior poets participated in the meeting held under the aegis of Dakshina Kannada district Kannada and cultural department.

The president praised Shekar Ajekar who held all the meets and said that support by the people of Bangare and literature lovers has inspired the conference to shine in the future.

In the discussion with the SSS activists, guest Srinivasa Jokatte gave away letters of participation to them.

Hundreds of students from Gokarnanatheshwara College, Narayana Guru College, Car Street Government College, Roshni Nilaya College and Ramakrishna College participated in the programmes.
