Mangalore/Mysore, Feb 16: Even as former minister S A Ramdas was booked by the police for attempt to murder and in other two cases following a complaint by Premakumari, she came out with a new allegation that ‘suicide attempt and hospitalization’ of the latter was an eyewash in a bid to escape legal scrutiny.
However, Premakumari said she would end her fight for justice, if Ramdas comes forward to acknowledge their marriage legally and publicly.
Earlier, a complaint stating that the former minster had attempted to murder and sexually harass the complainant was filed with police commissioner M A Saleem at his office. Later the commissioner referred the case to the Saraswathipuram police station. The police has charged Ramdas with sections 307 (attempt to murder), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 417(breach of trust) of the IPC.
"He (Ramdas) has been threatening me for almost a year. He has played with my sentiments and ruined my life," said Premakumari to daijiworld when contacted over the phone.
Blaming the former minister further, she said he betrayed her by making false promises of publicly marrying her to give her a good future. She met him for the first time when he was MLA to seek his help in transfer from Tarikere sub divisional office (where she was working as second divisional clerk) to Mysore, she said.
However, after frequent conversation between them over the transfer issue, a love affair developed, with Ramdas proposing her first.
Speaking on the major allegations in the written complaint (a copy of which is available with daijiworld), she said after he transferred her to Mysore as she wished, everything was fine, until she urged him to marry her.
"He felt that marrying me would damage his political career and slowly began to distance himself from me. When I tried to pull him back to the relationship he attempted to murder me by poisoning my food, following which I was hospitalized at JSS last year," she alleged.
"After this, he requested me to remain mum on the incident. His brother Shrikanth continuously threatened me to stay away from Ramdas. In interest of his political career, I was transferred to Tumkur by the former minister," she added.
She said it was not easy defying all difficulties to come forward and challenge the former minister and seek justice for his all wrongdoings. She expressed surprise that he took the extreme step of attempting suicide and said she presumed that it was an act out of concern for her. "But recent developments have unraveled the truth that he might flee to Singapore citing medical reasons, which clearly shows that suicide was a colossal political drama by Ramdas, his family and party members," she alleged.
When asked whether she would drop her fight for justice if Ramdas came forward to marry her publicly, she asserted that she would, since her wish is to be with him and have a pleasant future with the former minister.
