Mangalore, Feb 15:
For dog lovers in the city, Sunday February 16 was certainly special. Nearly 253 dogs, consisting of at least 36 breeds, took part in the first dog show event hosted by Karavali Canine Club (KCC), Mangalore in association with the 28th and 29th All Breeds Championship Dog Show of Bangalore Canine Club, Bangalore. The show was organised at Nehru Maidan.

State executive member of BJP Srikar Prabhu inaugurated the show.

Addressing the gathering, he said "The people of Mangalore have got an opportunity to see dogs of different breeds. Such shows are rare and this is the first of its kind in the city."

Among the 253 dogs, 70 participants were from Mangalore and the rest from other states such as Maharashtra, and Kerala, said president of KCC, T Preetham.

"The criterion for judging is the confirmation test and handling and not the obedient test. The best eight breeds will be short listed. Among the 253, 20 percent of the breeds are foreign bred. All the participants are registered under Canine Club of India. Finally, we will select the best dog of the show, which will represent India at the international level," he further added.

There were three rings. If one belonged to Karavali Canine Club, the other two were hosted by Bangalore Canine Club as the 28th and 29th championship dog shows.

Dog breeds such as Miniature Pinscher, pug, Fox Terrier, Bull Dog, Dalmatian, Afghan hound, Dachshund, Irish Setter, golden retriever, Labrador, spaniel cocker, boxer, Dobermann Pinscher, Rottweiler, St Bernard, Siberian Huskie, German Sheperd and others were part of the show.

C V Sudarshan, Rajiv Shandilya of New Delhi and Kenneth Chuah of Malaysia were the judges. Vice-president Manoj Narvekar and secretary of KCC Prasad Aithal were present. Shwetha Mendon compered the show.

Dear Ryan, that is a necessity. A faster mode of transportation and to save yourself from the hectic journey by bus or train. That is ones necessity its not a luxury. You can say one can travel in economy instead of business and first class to save money and help poor.

But about this Dog Show we can say that

Poor (Human) dies in poverty, Rich (Pets)lives in luxury.

Beautiful Dog show, hats off organizers of this event.Dog is very faithful, lovable, and helps relieve stress. A dog can be really helpful in removing boredom and loneliness from a man’s life as it offers a passionate companionship to its owner.

It was a wonderful event for dog-lovers like me but the entry fee of Rs. 100/- (per head for adults & Rs. 50/- for kids) was way too exorbitant. The organizers could have arranged a better seating facility with sufficient chairs having charged such high entry fee.

Lovely to see so many doggies under one roof along with the dog lovers. Dogs are the sincere, trustworthy and loyal to their masters. They are the best company to humans. Good job by the organizers.

Kutte, Kaminee for you so much of good treatment and good care by humans, whereas at the same time the same human beings are not caring about our fellow human beings. Dying with poverty, hunger, no roof etc. etc.

Hope next berth we can born as DOG, not a stray, but one I can see in this picture one gal holding her puppy close to her heart !

    DeSilva,
Dogs are most loyale and lovable creatures. For that matter even other wild animals are sensible enough. They just hunt & kill for need. But we Human beings do everything for greed!!! Jealousy, corruption, wickedness, cruelty, backstabbing, fraudulent intentions, etc...etc..., all these attributes can be found with only Human beings!!! But not with these animals!!! That's why they deserve all these attentions!!!
Very sad to say this but its true!!!
So please always help or feed these dumb animals, but not human beings!!!

    What you said is correct,
but imagine, if we human beings hate our own fellow human being then one fine day human being will extinct and then only Dog rules this world !!

BTW, I am not against your Dogs and any animals, but looking at the picture how much money and time we are spending on these dogs ! Amazing.

Thanks god. Mother Theresa not read your comments.

    DeSilva,
By looking at the present situation of India, even Mother Theresa would have regretted and reconsidered her decision of providing social service to human mankind of India!!!
Thank God she has passed away long back in 1997!!!
By the way why you are so worried of human beings getting extinct???
What did Human beings contributed other than corruption, destruction of mother nature, environment and cruelty???
    Think about it!!!

    Shravan Shettre,
You proved me that you are not a human being.
Now I can understand that why we have your more folks in un-lawful activities.
Hope at least one day you will feel and face true human values

Sometimes we do get carried away by our slogans of poverty and poorness in the most unwanted issues ...sometimes we need to cherish the most loyal creatures for human being too... we need to understand that even they feel imp and that's how we give back to nature ...poverty and hunger has been created by us not by mother nature.

Why you guys talking about human poverty and other things when someone cares about pet (dogs). Why don't you say the same thing when someone using airoplane to travel between mumbai-mangalore or any other routes. They can use bus or local train services and save the excess money and feed the poor right?
