Udupi, Feb 15: ‘Festival of Peace–2014’, a three-day prayer and worship festival was inaugurated on Friday February 14 at Christian High School grounds.
Dr John Sadananda, bishop, CSI South Karnataka diocese, along with Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi diocese, Prakash Simon, president, United Basel Mission Church, Udupi, Dr E W Frank, president and executive director, AIDCC, Pastor Jeevan Prasad, and Sebastian Joseph inuagurated the programme by releasing white balloons.
Fr David Crasta, vicar general, St Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Church, graced the occasion.
Dr Sadananda, in his inaugural speech, said, “Peace is belonging to God. Only God can give us peace in our life. Peace is God’s gift and we should never forget it. We all should be messengers of peace.”
Dr Gerald Lobo, in his address, said, “Wherever Jesus went, the first thing he would tell everyone is, “Peace be with you”. Wherever he went, he spread peace among mankind and always prayed for the same with God. Jesus always said give food to one who is hungry, water to one who is thirsty, shelter, and condolence when they are sad. One who works for peace is a saint. As Mother Teresa rendered service without differentiating and without selfishness, we too have to spread the same among mankind with the help of prayers.”
Dr Robert Cunville, associate evangelist, and Billy Graham, Evangelistic Association, will lead the worship during the course of the programme.
Till Sunday February 16, the Festival of Peace will be celebrated at the Christian High School grounds every evening 6 pm onwards.
