Bantwal: Snake bite incident - Young Prathiksha chosen for gallantry award

Bantwal, Feb 15: Daijiworld had recently carried the story of Prathiksha, a fourth standard student of government primary school at Nayila at Narikombu in the taluk, who had shown exemplary courage, presence of mind, and composure in the face of adversity in the form of snake bite suffered by her friend and classmate, Nithesh.
The courage shown by the girl, and her sincerity in bringing to practice the lesson on first aid taught at school, had come in for generous praise from all corners.
Now, Green Star Sports Club, which functions from Krishnapura near Mangalore, has decided to confer gallantry award on the girl. The office bearers of the club, who considered stories on Prathiksha which appeared in various media, took a decision to honour her.
President of the club, Ismail Badriya, has said that this award will be handed over to Prathiksha by state health minister, U T Khadar, at a function being organized on the evening of Saturday February 15 relating to a floodlit cricket tournament at Krishnapura.
Badriya added that the award comprises cash reward, memento, shawl, and garland. He also explained that expenses if any that might be incurred by Prathiksha and her family members for attending the programme will be met by the club.
Moreover, soon after the story was reported in daijiworld, a reader, who did not want to disclose his name, contacted daijiworld appreciating her bravery and rewarded her with a sum of Rs 5,000.
