Mangalore: BJP Ratha Yatra flagged off ahead of Modi visit

Mangalore, Feb 13: "Villages to Delhi, people everywhere are discussing about Narendra Modi and hoping that he would become the next Prime Minister of India. Having chosen Modi as the Prime Ministerial candidate of Bharatiya Janatha Party, we are eager to see him govern the country," said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
He was addressing the gathering before inaugurating a Ratha Yatra as part of BJP's 'Bharata Gellisi' programme which will be held on February 18.
Ridiculing AICC vice-president and Congress campaign chief Rahul Gandhi, Nalin Kumar said, “Sonia Gandhi was willing to field ‘chocolate boy’ Rahul Gandhi as Congress prime ministerial candidate but the Congress did not do so out of fear of Modi.
"Congress has completely failed to prevent corruption, terrorism and naxalisim. People are fed up of with the inefficient governance of the Prime Minister, external affairs minister, finance minister and the home minister. Hence we should extend our wholehearted support to Modi with the aim of building 'Ek Bharat, Shresht Bharat'.
The chariot will move around the city in the evenings till February 18, when Narendra Modi is expected to visit the city and address a public rally.
On this occasion former MLA Yogish Bhat, former minister Nagaraj Shetty, Vikas Puttur, Capt Brijesh Chowta, Sudheer Shetty, Vedha Vyasa and others were present.
One lac BJP members to participate in ‘Bharata Gellisi’
Earlier in the day, BJP district president Pratap Simha Nayak addressing a press meet said that at least one lac BJP members and supporters from all the eight Assembly constituencies in the district will take part in the 'Bharata Gellisi' programme on February 18.
"District BJP committee is all set for ‘Bharata Gellisi’ programme which will be addressed by BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on February 18. Already 3,000 volunteers have been appointed under 34 divisions," he said.
"The BJP is already on a door-to-door campaign for the programme. The party has also organized a campaign called ‘Your Voice, Our Manifesto’ where students and the general public can put up their views about the party’s manifesto. This campaign will be held on Friday February 14 and Saturday February 15," he said.
