Panaji, Feb 3: The 19th Goa Yuva Mohotsov (GYM) organised by Konknni Bhasha Mandal,Goa  and MES college Zuarinagar Vasco for two days held at SAG grounds Chicalim-Goa,  depicted different issues  like,mining,Portuguese passport,migration, exploitation of environment,unemployment, special status, exploitation and crime against women, two airports, Konkani language,corruption,Medium of Instruction  and created awareness of   identity and culture of Goa. 

“We must define alternative mechanism to the issues raised, ”said Nitin Kunkoliekar, vice-president,Smart link-Goa.

Nitin Kunkoliekar,who inaugurated the 19th Goa Yuva Mohotsov along with Veronica Andrade,Sarpanch,Chicalim Panchayat as a guest of Honour,Chetan Acharya, president,Konknni Bhasha Mandal, prof Cosma Fernandes,chief coordinator GYM, Mauvin Godinho,MLA,Dabolim Constituency and president, reception committee GYM, prof Satyavan Naik, secretary GYM,Prachi Prabhavalkar Varde, executive  president,GYM and Dr. Maria Rodrigues,Principal,MES College. A souvenir –ZUARI was released on the occasion.

"There must be an integrated approach while demanding even special status to Goa,” kunkoliekar said further. He appealed to the youngsters to maintain their identity.

Chetan Acharya lauded the efforts made by the Parrikar Govt. to promote konknni language in Goa but expressed his unhappiness over the decision taken by the Govt. with regard to theMedium of Instruction. Mauvin Godinho welcomed the gathering and reminded the youth of Goa tolove the culture of Goa. “If we ignore or forget our culture,we will forget us,” he said further.

The inaugural ceremony begin with the welcome song by the students of Goa College of Music.  The venue was named as A N Mhambre Nagar. The main stage was named after Late Fr Plantan Faria and other venues and stages were named in remembrance of  Fr Antimo  Gomes, Nagesh Naik Vadiye,Vasantrao Joshi and Govind Laxman Kharangate.

Prachi Prabhavalkat ,speaking on the occasion highlighted the various issues affecting Goa today. Prof Cosma Fernades, chief coordinator GYM, Dr Maria Rodrigues, principal,MES College  also expressed their sentiments.

Prof.Shruti Naik and Jayesh Raut compered the inaugural ceremony while prof Satyavan Naik, secretary GYM  proposed the vote of thanks.
