Kasargod: Man involved in Jabbar murder case hacked to death

Kasargod, Jan 26: A man was brutally murdered by a group of around four or five miscreants on the night of Saturday January 25 on Paivalike - Chevar road.
The deceased has been identified as Balige Aziz (38), a resident of Paivalike in Kasargod district.
It is said that Aziz was on his way from Permude (Kasargod) to Paivalike when a group of four-five people who came in an Ambassador car and deliberately dashed into his Maruti Ritz car, forcing him to stop.
Sensing danger, Aziz got out of the car and tried to escape, but the miscreants caught him and hit him his leg, neck and face with sharp weapons, killing him on the spot.
The attackers left their Ambassador at the crime spot and escaped in another car, sources said.
Aziz was one of the accused in the Abdul Jabbar murder case of 2009. Jabbar, secretary of Perla unit of Youth Congress was murdered on the night of November 3, 2009, and after investigations and court trial, seven persons were convicted in the case. Aziz, who was initially accused of supplying money to Jabbar's assailants, later became agreed to testify as a witness and was released.
Aziz was also said to be involved in a number of illicit liquor cases and other crimes. It is suspected that his murder was pre-planned.
The body was taken to Kasargod general hospital and then to Pariyaram Medical College for post-mortem.
Manjeshwar SI Sibi Thomas and other police officials visited the crime spot.
A case has been registered in Manjeshwar police station.
