Mangalore, Jan 2: “It is highly condemnable that the activist of a Hindu organization who has been fighting for the welfare of his society, religion, and the land has been booked under the Goonda Act in Tumkur. He is the Hindu Jaganarana Vedike (HJV) leader in Tumkur. He has to be released immediately without any conditions,” said VHP leader Jagadish Shenava, addressing protestors in front of the DC office on Wednesday January 1.
The protest was carried out by the HJV in association with various other Hindu organizations, against the Goonda Act imposed on HJV leader Raghavendra Ajekar in Tumkur.
“In order to impose the Goonda Act, the accused must be included in various criminal cases and he must be dangerous to the society. But there are no such criminal cases against Raghavendra. He had fought against the mosque committee and its organizations in Shira Nagar, where the committee had illegally utilized land worth crores, meant for burial, to build commercial complexes. In relation to this case, the people associated with the land mafia have lodged fake complaints against him and thus he has been booked under the Goonda Act. Miscreants have come to the level of carrying out cattle theft by openly showing swords and other lethal weapons. We all know the recent incident of Derlakatte forced sex issue, then why are the culprits of these cases not booked under the Goonda Act?” questioned Shenava.
Leaders K T Ullal, Raviraj B C Road, Vasudeva Gowda, Kishore, Subash Padil, Bhujanga Kulal, Sharan Pumpwell, and Krishnamurthy were present.
