Mangalore, Dec 28: Newly-appointed DC A B Ibrahim along with MCC officials organized a progress review meeting on Thursday December 26.
The meeting discussed the development of various roads such as Pumpwell to Hampankatta, K S Rao Road, and MCC to Circuit House.
Another topic was the management of street lights. It was decided that street lights in the city are in various colours and hence, to maintain uniformity, proper measures should be taken.
The following measures are to be followed in solid waste management:
- All main roads should be clean 24*7
- Cleaning staff should be at work around 6:00 am
- Each day, 250 tonnes of solid waste is gathered in Pachanady. A proposal should be prepared within three months to establish a new division of ‘fuel from waste’.
The advertisements and hoardings spoiling the beauty of the city should be removed.
With regards to water supply, it was decided that there should be no problem in providing clean drinking water to people. Illegal water supply lines should be identified and banned.
Giving importance to tax collection before the end of the economic year, it was decided that a special campaign will be organized for the purpose.
In the matter of town planning, it was decided that after collecting the information to deliver the title deed to single site homes, a special fair should be organized to give the title deed to buildings which have not violated the law.
