Karkala, Dec 25: “The central government has contributed Rs 961.92 crore and the state government has contributed Rs 488 crore in the national rural health project implemented by the central government during the last two years. Only a few people are taking advantage of projects by the state government. Such projects are not beneficial for chronic illnesses. If a nationwide project is implemented, everybody in the country will be able to make use of it”, said M Veerappa Moily, union minister of Petroleum, natural gas and environment.

He was speaking after laying foundation stone for the renovated building of Karkala taluk government hospital with an amount of Rs 98 lacs released by the ONGC under social security commitment.
