Mangalore, Dec 24: “Congress activists, Communists, Komu Souhardha Vedike and other intellectual organizations took to the streets terming the home stay as moral policing and demanded justice. But today, when an innocent girl was kidnapped, forced into sex with a male friend, and threatened for extortion, none of these forums are raising their voice,” said Jagadish Shenava of Vishwa Hindhu Parishat.
He was addressing the protest organized by the VHP and Bajrang Dal condemning the kidnapping, rape, and blackmail of a student of Deralakatte Medical College student. The protest took place near the DC's office here on Tuesday December 24.
Shenava also said, “Police arrested the culprits within 11 hours and produced them in court without properly questioning them. We also came to know that a few representatives of the current state government put pressure on the police to produce them in court. This incident may not be the first offence by the criminals who have performed this heinous crime. Hence, police should conduct a proper probe into this matter. This case should be considered very seriously and be handed over to the CID for further inquiry.”
Jithendra Kottary said, “Ever since the Congress government came to power, it has been taking anti-Hindu measures like withdrawal of Anti-Cow Slaughter Bill, dividing Hindu and Muslims in ‘Shaadi Bhagya’, and now attempting to bring in the anti-superstitious law. When Communist leader Prakash Karat came, he spoke about Sowjanya’s case but he was mum on other cases such as Akshatha and Sowmya. Why didn’t he look into other problems of the district? Let him speak now. The police should provide proper security for the girl from Bihar who was kidnapped by the gang of eight.”
Shivananda Mendon too spoke on the occasion. Sharan Pumpwell, Gopal Kuthar, and others were present.
