Mangalore, Dec 23: St Christopher Association, Rosario, Mangalore, celebrated Christmas with the inmates of Ave Maria Palliative Care Centre, Vamanjoor.
Fr William Menezes of Mangalore Diocese was the guest of honour who cut the cake of Christmas celebration and in his message, said, “It is necessary to share joy and agony equally in life with others. We see Dr Lavina Noronha who makes this palliative centre a comforting place for people on their death bed. This is the mission of Christ and on the day of his birth celebration it is a right gesture by this association to celebrate Christmas with them.”
Dr Lavina Noronha, who is the chairman and owner of the Ave Maria Palliative Care Centre, Vamanjoor, said, “Since the start of this centre, in the last five years, about 250 people have been taken care of in the palliative centre. They are assisted in their last moments and we are satisfied by the grace of God in the mission that we do,” she said.
St Christopher Association president Raymond D’Cunha welcomed and explained the motive of the association behind the celebration of Christmas with these types of organization. Honorary president Susheel Noronha handed over a gift cheque to Dr Noronha. On behalf of Christopher Association secretary Harold D’Souza gave the vote of thanks. Vice secretary Leena D’Souza and Dennis D’Souza helped to with the arrangements.
