Mangalore, Dec 21: Inner Wheel Club of Mangalore North ably organised the 44th IW 318 District Conference 'Samyuktha' under the leadership of district chairman Shameem Kunil, conference chair Dr Malini Hebbar and host club president Ramamani Bhat recently.
The conference which attracted around 400 delegates from the length and breadth of Karnataka was inaugurated by U T Khadar, minister of health and family welfare. U T Khadar highlighted the role of women in social reform and urged service organisations like Inner Wheel to network with the authorities to bring about a positive change in society. He had special words of appreciation for the conference theme - 'Water, the Elixir of Life'.
Chief guest Shantala Kamath, a cine-star and TV artiste released the Chairman’s Newsletter and in her message laid stress on the question of space in the lives of women and the need for women to be career oriented.
Rotary District 3180 governor Rtn PHF Gururaj S released the District Souvenir and appreciated the contributions made by Inner Wheel through its service projects.
In addition to the fruitful deliberations in the business session of the conference, the delegates had the joy of fellowship at Panambur Beach, in the Pre-Samyuktha Beach-Mela organised by P P Poornima Rao Idya and her team.
Conference co-chair Mitra Prabhu, secretary Sushma Bansal and treasurer Rajani Bhat ensured the smooth flow of Samyuktha - the conference of unity.
