Kasargod: Siblings killed in car accident, two others injured

Kasargod, Dec 21: In a car accident that occurred on the national highway near Haledevi talkies at Kumble on Saturday December 21 morning, two people of a family lost their lives and two others were seriously injured.
Ibrahim and his sister Zuhara
The deceased have been identified as A A Ibrahim Haji alias Ibrahim Malige(48), a resident of Eriyal, and his sister Zuhara (40). Their mother Dainabi (65) and Zuhara's husband M P Mohammed Kunhi (49), a resident of Mogral, were seriously injured. The injured have been admitted to a Mangalore hospital.
Ibrahim's wife Zainaba(38) and Zuhara’s daughter Jumaila (15) escaped unhurt.
The accident occurred when the family was returning from a Swalat programme held in Bayar. The car rolled off the road while trying to avoid a head-on collision with a vehicle approaching from the opposite direction. The car was badly damaged.
A groupd of Ayyappa devotees passing by tried to rescue the accident victims and pulled them out from the car.
The deceased Ibrahim Haji was the state treasurer and district secretary of STU, a union of fish traders.
He was employed at Kel-Bhel company for the past twenty years. Besides being an office-bearer of STU, he was a member of the Muslim League and president of the working committee of a mosque.
The bodies were handed over to the relatives after post-mortem at Kasargod general hospital.
