Mangalore: Scores of devotees throng annual festival of Garodi Temple

Mangalore, Dec 21: The five-day annual festival of Shree Brahma Baiderkala Garodi Temple, popularly known as Kankanady Garodi Jaatre, came to a grand end here on Friday December 20.
The flag hoisting ceremony took place on December 16. The Vishnumoorthy festival was celebrated on December 17 while Kodamanithaya Nema was held on December 18.
The Baidarkala Jatra was organized on December 19 after 8 pm, followed by Mayandal Devi festival on December 20.
Annadhanam was organized on all the days and Maha Annasantharpane on December 19, on the day of Baiderkala Nema.
On the first day of the festival, devotional musical play 'Amar Bollilu' was staged by city's well-known troupe Chakrapani Nrithya Sangeetha Kala Kendra, Attavar, headed by Suresh Master Attavar.
Bajrang Dal, Pumpwell unit organized a comedy show and a variety of dance events at Pumpwell as part of the festival.
Thousands of devotees from in and around the district flocked to the temple and sought blessings of Koti-Chennaya and Brahma, together known as Brahma Baiderkala.
Ministers Vinay Kumar Sorake and U T Khadar, MLA J R Lobo, local corporators, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, BJP leader Shrikar Prabhu also took part in the festivities.
Lacs of devotees thronged the temple on during the five days.
