Kundapur: Youth arrested for raping girl on false promise of marriage

Kundapur, Dec 19: The police on Wednesday December 18 arrested a youth for allegedly raping a minor girl thrice after promising to marry her, and finally cheating her due to family pressure.

The accused has been identifies as Chetan (22), a resident of Moodugopadi.

It is said that for the past two years, Chetan had been making false claims of love to a 17-year-old girl from Vakwady, and taking her to various places like End Point in Manipal and Kollur. There he would allegedly rape the girl after promising marriage. This way he reportedly raped her thrice.

However, last week his family came to know about the matter, and immediately they held a meeting with local political leaders questioning the girl's character. They convinced Chetan to leave the girl and sent him to Bangalore.

Frightened by Chetan's family's intense opposition, the girl slipped into depression, fell ill and got admitted to Koteshwar hospital, where the incident of rape came to light. The doctors at the hospital informed the Kundapur police.

Under the guidance of Kundapur DySP C B Patil, the police team led by circle inspector P M Diwakar, began a search for the accused. On Wednesday Chetan was nabbed and produced in court, and remanded in judicial custody for 15 days.

    Why is that each time there is false promise case its case against men?
    False promise can be my girls also to have sex.. Isnt it?
    The girls are matching up to immoral men now..and men are easy target for extracting money easily.
    Shameless girls.
    In these cases girls photo should also be published. Why only men have to face embarasment when both are involved. Do men not have any dignity?

    so here how it gives , a boy or man betwean 18 to 65 age bracket contribute immensly to society at work and also home. but we have absolutely no rights , there are juvenile rights , women rights , senior citizen rights , even animal rights but absolute no such rights for men. thin
    k about this , he has any intimacy before marriage

    and can be nailed for rape , poor soul goes to marital relationship can b booked for false 498a and domestic violence. he walks on street gets arrested for molestation or stalking , at work any female colleague can trap him under harrassewent at work place act. its pathetic and mutiny.

    With due respect to the complainant victim, it is pertinent to note that it has become a fashion and trend nowadays by girls who have physical relations consensually and when the relationship goes sour for whatever reason cry foul, and file rape cases!! The dividing line here between consensual sex and rape is very thin, but by the time the court decides the man's life will be totally ruined!!

    These happenings are warning signs for men in the Cupid mood as they can be in for serious trouble if for any reason the relationship runs into rough weather!!

    When a boy refuses to marry a girl our law makes him a culprit. If a girl refuses to marry a boy and cause him to end his life our law will not respond. In this case girl is not a small child to go wherever he calls. Since it is a consensual act both are the culprits.

    Make friendship, Make promises of Marriage and enjoy Sex is OK in our Law but if no Marriage happens then it’s turned out to be “Rape”. Let us review the law in vice versa, i.e. Enjoy Sex without the consent of girl which is offence in our Law but if culprit makes promise of Marriage after the rape will it be pardoned by the Law? That’s why unless these youths understand the true meaning of “Pyaar and Chaahat” these types of cases will occur every now and then

    We need a more precise definition of the word "Rape". Every case of similar nature is being treated as a rape case, no wonder the statistics are sky high. The consequences should be a two-way street. One person can't just throw a rape case on someone and the cry and get out of it when it turns out to be false. This is a cheating case being criminal in nature. No offense, but no one is raped thrice at different locations without being held captive. And that too locations with significant amount of public around. And one location is near Udupi DC Office. I'm not saying that this justification reduces the magnitude of the crime committed by the youth, but todays youth have to be guided by their elders at a very tender age. Our culture is so conservative but still all these cases are rampant in our country rather than non-conservative countries. Food for thought Readers.

    All love failures now come with the risk of "Men bieng booked for rape". The above incident of sex was consensual in nature, yes legally she was a minor but it the act was consensual in nature!
    If the guy couldn't marry her due to his family pressure then the easiest thing for a girl is to file a Rape case.

    If the act was forceful, and it was done with an intention to CHEAT the girl then the guy deserves all the punishment.
