Mangalore, Dec 18: Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell on Wednesday December 18 said that Sunil Kumar, who allegedly tortured his wife Sumitha and drove her to suicide, was not a member of Bajrang Dal as claimed.
Rubbishing reports of Bajrang Dal's links with Sunil Kumar, Sharan Pumpwell said, "Sunil Kumar is not a member of our organization. Bajrang Dal and I will do the maximum to support the investigation. We will stand by the victim's family."

It may be recalled that the Sumitha, wife of Sunil Kumar, died after consuming several tablets due to alleged prolonged harassment by her husband and his family ever since their marriage in May this year.
On Wednesday, the victim’s brother Mohan, relatives and members of Bajarang Dal visited the mortuary at a private hospital to receive the deceased body.
Speaking to reporters outside the mortuary, Sharan reiterated that Sunil was no way associated with the Bajrang Dal. “Sunil is my neighbor and it is his brother who is an active member of Bajrang Dal," he said.
"Since its inception, Bajrang Dal has stood against all kinds of atrocities on women. We cannot tolerate this incident as well. No matter who Sunil is, we will fully cooperate with the police and support the victim’s family," he further added.
"I am hurt and saddened by the incident. I spoke to the family members and the brother of the victim. We will extend all the support," he stressed.
