Goa to hold parents of underage drivers liable

Panaji, Dec 18 (IANS): Parents in Goa will now be held criminally accountable for allowing school and college-going children to drive vehicles without licences, an official said Tuesday.

"We will conduct a drive against students driving vehicles without licences for one day tomorrow (Wednesday)," transport director Arun Desai said.

The official said parents of children caught during the drive would be held accountable as abettors.

"It is their responsibility that their children go to school or colleges responsibly without breaking laws," Desai said.
