Mangalore: Youngster falls from moving bus, dies on spot

Mangalore, Dec 17: In an incident that brought to fore the dangers of not following safety precautions while commuting by public transport, a youngster died after he fell from a moving bus at Konaje here on Monday, December 16.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Jaffer alias Hanif (19), son of Ibrahim, a resident of Vorkady, Manjeshwar. He was employed at a textile shop at Uppala.

The accident occurred near the curve at Kairangala under Konaje police station limits. Eyewitness said that the boy was standing at the front door of the bus which was plying via Manjanady to Mudipu. He suddenly lost balance at the curve and fell out of the bus, and died on the spot.

A person named Mohammed filed a complaint in Konaje police station and the police have registered a case against Charlie Crasta, the driver of the bus.

    In main hampankatta Signal junction lot of passengers can be seen jumping out of the bus or getting in and nobuddy stops them .Even the traffic police are helpless .

    It is we who are to be blamed, Impatience is the Word. This is just one event but there are lots of them happening everyday. If we really do care to take traffic rules seriously we would not see all these things happening.

    When the volume of commuters is growing rapidly, the roads are filled with tiny vehicles which meet only a minimum transport demand. The public commuters are moved like goods and materials. Automobiles sector is ripe for a rapid revolution to make a world of difference.

    Why the case is being filed against bus drivers in such incidents?, why not bus conductor?. Bus driver is responsible for driving the bus but not managing who is doing what inside the bus. There will be a cleaner in every bus as well.

    Sometimes, so many passengers are found hanging in a moving buses that the bus tilts towards one side to the degree, as though it is going lose balance. Still the passengers never heed to the grave dangers.

    THIS IS A RESULT OF CORRUPTION
    1. All buses are overloaded.
    2. All busses have some cracks shouting clinging on to the side rod.
    3. All buses overspeed
    4. All buses have vaacum horns
    5. All buses push small vehicles off the road.
    No bus is checked
    No bus is stopped
    No bus is fined
    No bus is charged
    WE THE CITIZENS IN THOUSANDS CAN FIGHT THIS BUS CORRUPT BUS LOBBY WHICH IS NOT EVEN A HANDFUL

    Private buses need to have semi-automatic doors for all buses like BMTC buses.

    We badly need KSRTC city bus services in Mangalore and Udupi.

    How many standing seats are there in
    a bus ?
    Riding on the footboard is against the law .
    Now who controls this ?
    Driver and conductor ,try going in a lift
    which shows overloaded ,the lift wont move abd the lift man will make the last person to enter to exit.
    Or try going in a flight standing !

    It is very unfortunate.But no use blaming the conductor as I have noticed that when the conductor requests the passengers on foot board they just ignore the warning and prefer to stand on the foot board risking their safety and causing inconvenience to passengers boarding or getting out of the bus.Mostly violated by yougsters and even when many seats are vacant.

    It is not the mistake of Conductor. I have seen so many sick people are standing or sitting near door of the bus/train. Even the train is not full also in Mumbai I have seen people will not give space to enter the train, they just stand on the entrance.

    The conductor of the bus to be blamed. No passenger should be allowed to stand on the foot board of moving bus. It is not only hazardous and but an obstruction to the free passage of other passengers.

    Sad a young life is lost.

    Question is how many of these young ones listen to conductor? Had conductor scolded/forced or pushed the boy inside, allegation would have been different! or probably that boy would have come with some supporters next day to question conductor. We should first of all stop blaming others for the mistake of our own misguided youths. Yes. security aspects are totally ignored in our country in all spheres of life. Security measures like closing doors should be made mandatory for all buses. But as long as Pvt bus lobby is there such things will not be put in place. Until then we have to digest such sad incidents. Very sad. May his soul RIP.

    In my opinion the administration must be blamed first, police must be blamed and RTO must be blamed. administration first is to have a proper roads and road marjins so that, even in the case of accidents there is enough space. police because, they must notice these erring youths hanging on the bus.. why are those jeeps given to them? RTO because, they must immediately implement automatic dooors mandatory on all the buses and control the speed. finally citizens to be blamed .. we are responsible for our own safety.. parents must be blamed too .. because, children must be taught from the childhood to behave well as well as obey the orders. Let the poor driver and conductor be blamed when every one of us take responsibility.
