Mangalore, Dec 16: The annual day along with Christmas tidings was celebrated on December 15 by Spandana Trust on the grounds of Infant Mary’s Convent School.
The programme was educative and entertaining. The members of self help groups, dignitaries, guests etc. were present for the programme.
Sr Evangeline, administrator of Spandana Trust, welcomed the gathering and Victor Vas read the report of 2012-2013 of activities and programmes of the Trust.
Sr Sylvia Fernandes, superior, Infant Mary’s Convent, Jeppu, Mangalore was the president of the function. In her presidential address she encouraged and congratulated the groups for their upliftment and wished prosperity and peace in their lives.
As chief guest J R Lobo, MLA, Mangalore South Constituency addressing the gathering said "helping others is the best service rendered to the people who are in need and we should always be thankful to every one who has helped us are the two ways of life where we can get peace of life. Through this we can form a better society."
Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, principal, St Joseph’s College, Jeppu, Mangalore was invited to deliver the Christmas message. In his Christmas message he cited from the creation of the world how God has remembered and helped His creations and brought them back to His love and care through the Prophets. The same way when people were adamant to His teachings He sent His only son Jesus Christ, born of Virgin Mary through Holy Spirit to save the world from sins and show the path of sinless life. Through two stories the sharing of things and showing love to each other was also narrated by him.
As part of the programme prize distribution for excellency was organized followed by veriety entertainment programme. The compere for the programme were Jayanthi Adyar and Gamini Nanthoor, SHG members. Vote of thanks was given by Theertha, social worker of the Trust.
