Mumbai: Excitement galore as Mira-Bhayandar Christmas Carnival begins

Mumbai, Dec 15: The four-day Mega Christmas Carol Carnival organized by St Joseph Church, Mira Road here under the leadership of Small Christian Communities got off to a cheerful start on Saturday December 14.
The carnival was blessed by Fr Dominic Vas, parish priest of St Joseph Church and inaugurated by Fr Ivan D'souza and Clifford Faria.
"Since the theme of this year is 'Joy in the Family - Joy to the World' the purpose of this Carnival is to spread peace and religious harmony and to create awareness about family values," said Fr Dominic before flagging off the Carol Carnival.
The three tableaus with Christmas crib depicting the birthplace of Jesus Christ were led by a chariot, driven by the effervescent Santa Claus followed by a choir, school children, live music band and dance performers. Hundreds of people joined in, dancing and singing energetically to the glory of the festive event
On the first day floats went through the streets of Mira Road and halted at more than 20 main junctions and gave the message of peace and joy. The carnival had elegance and exuberance galore.
The four-day carnival will pass across Mira-Bhayandar city and conclude on Tuesday December 17 night.
