Kundapur: Temple priest dies in car-lorry collision, doctor injured

Kundapur, Dec 14: A temple priest was killed in a collision between a lorry and Qualis car at Trasi-Maravante beach here on Thursday December 12 night.
The deceased has been identified as Udaya Kumar (42), a priest at Durgaparameshwari temple, Montimar in Manchi, Bantwal.
He was returning to Mangalore after dropping another priest at Gokarna when the accident took place.
A lorry rammed into the Qualis, causing severe head injuries to Udaya Kumar. He was stuck in the car for sometime, and was rescued by volunteers of Gangolli helpline who rushed him to Kundapur hospital. However, he soon breathed his last.
Another person who was with him in the car, Dr Kishan Kumar Sullia of Mangalore, sustained minor injuries.
The lorry driver escaped from the spot. A search for him is on.
Kundapur circle inspector Diwakar P M and Gangolli SI Sampath Kumar visited the spot.
Gangolli police have registered a case.
