Karkala: 16-year-old boy dies as car rolls off highway

Karkala, Dec 13: A 16-year-old boy died after a car driven by his father went out of control and rolled off the national highway in front of Miyar Church here on Friday December 13.
The deceased has been identified as Shrutesh (16) from Hirebail, Kalasa. He was a first year PUC student at Bhuvanendra College, Karkala and was staying in the nearby Bhujabali Brahmacharya Ashram.
Shruthesh had gone home and was returning on Friday morning with his parents for a PTA meeting to be held the same day in the college.
His father Shantaraj who was driving suddenly lost control of the car. The car dashed into six protective stone barriers along the side of the road and then toppled.
The student who got caught under the car died on the spot due to severe head injuries.
Shantaraj and his wife escaped with minor injuries.
A case has been registered in the town police station.
