Mangalore, Dec 12: Buoyed by their party's remarkable performance in the recent Delhi Assembly elections, the members of district unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday December 12 held a victory procession from Dr Ambedkar circle Mahatma Gandhi Park in front of the Town Hall.
The jubilant members shouted slogans and held torches and lighted candles on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Aam Admi Party convener Robert Rosario said, "Wherever Arvind Kejriwal went to seek votes, people welcomed him enthusiastically with garlands. Those who could not offer garlands showered flower petals from their terraces. People are expecting good, quality and ethical politics in this nation. Hence we have the responsibility of strengthening this party in the coastal belt. We must choose Aam Admi Party member as the MP of this district."
District advisory committee member S Nandagopal said, "Sheila Dikshith governed Delhi for 15 years with an egoistic attitude and termed Aam Aadmi Party as a non-entity incapable of competing against Congress. But for the first time in the Indian political history, the Aam Admi Party as a newcomer secured 28 seats against all odds. Today, the party's flag is flying high in the national capital.
"This is a victory of the common man. People who were laughing at us have now started to respect us. Political parties like BJP and Congress have started to shiver. Let us be active and work towards strengthening our party," he told the party workers.
AAP party members Ajay Kumar, Sulochana, Vinod Rao, Sathish Rao, Roshan Ullal, Dharmendra, Sachitha Nandagopal and others were present.
