Mangalore: Manish Karbikar transferred, R Hitendra is new police commissioner

Mangalore, Dec 12: City police commissioner Manish Karbikar has been transferred as the DIG of Karnataka State Reserve Police.

Manish Karbikar, a 1998 batch IPS, had taken charge as police commissioner of Mangalore on September 19, 2012.

R Hitendra, who belongs to the 1996 batch of Karnataka police, has taken over the charge from Karbikar.

Hitendra served as DIG of anti-corruption department under CBI from 2006 to October 2013. He has also held various other posts prior to 2006.

He hails from Kolar. In 2012, Hitendra was awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Independence Day.

    I join several others in extending a warm and hearty welcome to Mr. R. Hitendra. I have known his predecessor Mr, Manish Karbikar as a quiet and very reserved officer but doing a fine job. Mangalore City used to be a quiet place with PEACE LOVING PEOPLE. However during the recent years the situation has changed which calls for the services of a strong and vigilant person to ensure proper LAW AND ORDER. I am sure Mr. Hitendra will effectively and judiciously ensure that LAW and order IS maintained.

    Welcome Mr. Hitendra and wish you a fruitful tenure in Mangalore.

    Sir - Welcome to Mangalore !! Please endeavor to make Mangalore into a peaceful haven rather than the wrong things that Mangalore gets famous for every time. Also kindly look into the traffic snarls at every junction. At Hampankatta junction even though there is a "No Right Turn" board fixed opp Taj Mahal - most vehicles take a right turn under the very nose of the Traffic Police who just ignore it - in this way we cannot improve Mangalore. Check the Traffic Congestion near Unity Hospital where even though no Parking is allowed - the place is full of vehicles parked on either side of the road under the very nose of the Police.
