Mangalore: Tulu movie 'Oriyan Thoonda Oriyag Aapuji' gets rolling

Mangalore, Dec 11: The muhurat for the new Tulu movie 'Oriyan Thoonda Oriyag Aapuji', the first produced by Gangadhar Shetty and Ashok Kumar under the banner of Sri Mangala Ganesh Combines, was held at Managaldevi Temple premises here on Wednesday, December 11.
State forest minister and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge B Ramanath Rai sounded the clapboard.
The muhurat ceremony was officially inaugurated by Ramanath Rai and other dignitaries by lighting the auspicious lamp. Ramanath Hegde, administrator, Mangaladevi temple, Anand K, marketing head of Udayavani, Rtn Suryaprakash Bhat, Ajith Kumar Rai Maladi, president, Bantara Yaane Nadavara Mathr Sangha, Dr Shivasharan Shetty, director of Namma Tv, Premanath Shetty, corporator, Girija, Ha Su Rajashekar, Kishore D Shetty, Suresh Mangaluru, Arjun Kapikad, Prajwal Pooviah, Nagesh Achar, Gangadhra Shetty and Ashok Kumar were present on the dais.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the event, B Ramanath Rai said, "We must support Tulu movies and promote and encourage their production, as Tulunadu is their only market."
He added, "I had enacted in various dramas in my college days. The producer of this movie Ganghdhar and I used to get husband and wife role most of the times."
Anand K said, "This movie field is new to producers. Regional movies need to be give much importance and recognition. If all the Tulu people support the Tulu industry, then it can become a grand success. Tuluvas are settled in other places like Mumbai and the Gulf countries, and it will be good if this movie is released in those places at the same time as well."
He further said, "Many Tulu movies have been coming up in the past one-and-a-half years, thus there is more competition, and if competition increases, we can expect more number of quality movies."
In his address, Dr Shivasharan Shetty said people have been responding well to Tulu movies. "Tulu movies have good market these days. May the Tulu movie industry become as successful as the Tulu drama industry, and may more movies be produced," he wished.
"Tulu movies must get some concession with regard to the title registration and other regulations," he added.
Other dignitaries also spoke on the occasion and conveyed their best wishes to the entire movie team.
Naresh Sasihithlu compered the programme. Former mayor Shashidhar Hegde and others were present.
